Paolo Mussone, Ph.D., M.Sc., B.Sc.

Dr. Paolo Mussone holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science from the University of Manchester in the UK, a Master of Science in Process Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, both from the Polytechnic University of Milan in Italy. Since coming to Alberta in 2007, Dr. Mussone has developed and led a portfolio of applied research projects in collaboration with both multinational companies in the oil sands and hydrocarbon downstream processing sectors, as well as with forestry, agricultural sectors and start-up of technology companies in the bioeconomy space.

Currently Dr. Mussone holds the Applied Bio/Nanotechnology Industrial Research chair at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) where he leads an applied research program in collaboration with regional, national and international industry partners in the resource extraction, environmental remediation and bioeconomy sectors focused on developing and prototyping marketable technologies to improve operational efficiencies, reducing emissions and accelerating environmental remediation.
